Safety Tips and Resources

HOMEOWNERS:

- Each floor of your home should have at least one working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector

  • Check the batteries at least once a year
  • Test monthly

- Keep at least one centrally located fire extinguisher in the house

  • Do not risk your life to extinguish an out of control fire

- Do not overload circuits or extension cords

- Keep space heaters at least three feet away from anything combustible

- Do not use fueled heaters indoors

- Store all household chemicals in approved containers in well-ventilated areas

- Have an escape plan

- Take into consideration escape plans for those with limited mobility
