NHFD is looking for citizens of Hampton Township and the surrounding communities who are interested in becoming members of the fire service. Whether you are looking to give something back to the community or just have a calling to be a firefighter, NHFD is the place to be. We are looking for members in our three classes of membership:
1. Firefighter
Anyone who is at least 18 years of age may apply for membership. If accepted, you will go through a probationary period before becoming a full member. Firefighters need to be willing to train on a bi-weekly basis and attend certain classes at the Allegheny County Fire Academy. Anyone who is willing to learn, and who is willing to volunteer their time to help others in need is encouraged to apply for membership.
2. Fire Police Officer

3. Driver / Operator
Anyone who is at least 21 years of age and has a clean driving record may apply for membership. If accepted, you will go through a probationary period before becoming a member. The driver / operator class of membership is designed for men / women who want to help the community, but may not be interested in learning the firefighting aspect of the service. Driver operators will be required to train on the vehicles, pumps and truck. They will need to be able to perform all essential driver duties at a fire scene. Anyone who is willing to learn how to operate the vehicles and willing to volunteer their time to help others in need is encouraged to apply for membership.
Junior Firefighters are welcome too!
Anyone who is at least 16 years of age but not yet 18 years of age may apply for a *Junior* membership. If accepted, you will go through a probationary period before becoming a full member. Junior Firefighters need to be willing to train on a bi-weekly basis to prepare themselves for becoming a Firefighter. Various classes are available at the Allegheny County Fire Academy, and in-house training sessions will prepare the Junior Firefighter for his/her future in the fire service. Some activities are limited due to age restrictions. Anyone who is willing to learn, willing to volunteer their time to help others in need and is between the age of 16 and 18 are encouraged to apply for membership.
